Upon completion of its first formal ESL program in the Spring of 2002, a program which attracted over 200 Spanish-speaking adults, La FUENTE Learning Center received a $100,000 grant from the Texas Education Agency. This grant has allowed La FUENTE to hire certified ESL instructors, and resource materials. Four levels of ESL classes are offered at La FUENTE during five days of the week. Over 200 adult students have advanced at least one level (using state-approved standards) in the program during the past nine months. In addition, La FUENTE provides complimentary day care and bus passes. Weekly guest speakers address such topics as housing, city services, immigration, the public school system, and money management. Questions or comments? Please email admin@fuenteaustin.org
